Outfit: Look for Less

Ok, so Randi (@rjohnson355 on Twitter) challenged me to take the outfit from Shoe of the Day #12 & recreate it in a more budget friendly version.  I thought....Pssh, easy-peasy.  Um, wrong.  Do you know how hard it is to find an affordable,  PRETTY green cardigan (instead of the lime green ones) that is IN stock?!?!  Not easy.

This is the outfit that I was challenged to recreate. The cost of this outfit is: $303...NOT including the cardigan, handbag, and ring, as those are "sold out" and the price was not listed.  Being on the optimistic side, I'd guess the cardigan to go for (aprox.) $19.99, the ring (aprox.) $10.99, & handbag (aprox.) $35.00.  This would bring the total to $368.98.

Here's what I came up with to get the look for less:

Ok, I switched the main color to white, instead of green, for two reasons:  1~ like I said, a green cardigan is relatively hard to find in stock for a good price, and 2~ White is more versatile...you can throw another color under it, mix up the shoes and/or other accessories & have a whole different outfit!  "My" outfit totals:  $166.92!!  That's a savings of $192.06!  You could get a whole second outfit with the savings!  :)

Here's the breakdown:  Cardigan, WalMart $15.  Blouse, Old Navy $26.94.  Jeans, Old Navy $39.94.  Handbag, ShoeDazzle $39.95.  Necklace, Jewelry Queen $3.11.  Ring, Overstock Jeweler $16.99.  Shoes, Amazon $24.99.

To make it even less expensive, you can do a simple green tank, instead of the blouse.  The one below is only $9.00 at Target, and comes in a variety of colors!

**Also, right now at Old Navy, they're offering up to 50% off and FREE shipping online.  Up to 75% off in stores!  So, you could possibly cut the price of the blouse and jeans in HALF (or more!).  If you aren't a ShoeDazzle member already, when you join, your 1st item is 20% off, so you could get the bag for $31.96.

So, what do you think?  How'd I do?!?!  I'd love to hear feedback.

Shoe of the Day # 12

Ok, so I confess to being lazy today.  I wasn't even going to post today, however, upon browsing Pinterest (I'm addicted), I found a cute outfit that would be cute anytime (although, it IS quite "matchy-matchy"), but especially for the Holidays!  Then I figured why not make the Shoe of the Day one that could work with the outfit?!?!

So, this is "Laverne", a Michael Antonio shoe (I love MA....good quality!).  I'm not super crazy about this shoe, but I think it stands out a bit more than just a plain all-white pump, and is more practical than an open toe for winter.

I did NOT create this board!  For info, visit Polyvore.

Anyways!  That's it for today!  Thanks to "Catt Larson" for pinning this on Pinterest!  :)

Shoe of the Day # 11

Meet Danielle.  Now, I've been looking at Danielle since I first saw her, and I alternate between thinking "UGLY" and "Really Cute"!

Danielle also comes in black, but for some reason, I like the gold better.  Thoughts?  Would you put Danielle in the Ugly category, or the Really Cute category?  I'm definitely starting to lean towards Really Cute.  Especially with the outfit below!

Outifit:  Shirt/Jeans, H&M.  Necklace/bracelets/shoes, ShoeDazzle.  Handbag, JustFab.

**Don't miss out on yesterday's post, if you aren't already a member of Julep! It is a monthly Nail Polish/Mani/Pedi club!  Get your 1st month for ONE PENNY (code "SHAREON")!!  You can sign up, place your order, then cancel after you receive it if you don't want to stay a member, but for a penny it is definitely worth getting the 1st order!  You get 2 polishes & a couple extra things, depending on what package you choose!

Shoe of the Day # 10

Hello, hello!  Its been a couple days since my last Shoe of the Day post.....sorry!  Had to finish Christmas shopping, then yesterday had to go to Boston for a check up (I was diagnosed with eye cancer in 2008) so I haven't really had too much time to find a shoe and post it!  :)

Anyways!  How are all of you doing?  Got all your Christmas shopping done (or whatever preparations you do for the holiday that you celebrate)?  If you're like me, you could use a little eye candy right about now (hey, its the ONLY candy that won't go right to the "muffin top"!).  So, meet Akasha!  Shiny black patent, and glittery gold.  Ahhh, I'm in lust!

Ohhhh, boy.  If I didn't just spend all our money on Christmas gifts, I would 110% order these!!!!  For those who have followed the blog for awhile, you know I can NOT wear pumps...they flip flop off of my feet (yes, I've tried going down 1/2-1 size, tired the heel grips, etc. Nothing works).  HOWEVER, this Mary Jane style I could SO wear!  With that cute gold strap, my feet would stay secure in the shoe.  Ohhh, I want.  Hopefully these will still be in stock when my budget allows for a splurge!  Yes, they're only $39.95 (free shipping), however, Christmas REALLY puts a dent in the budget, and we always have to play "catch up" for a month or so afterwards.  Oh, well.  I can fantasize!  ;)

Outfit:  Dress, Forever 21.  Shoes, ShoeDazzle.  Bracelet, Send the Trend.  Clutch, JustFab.

Shoe of the Day #8

Shoe of the Day is......

Jessica Simpson's Houndstooth peep toe pumps.  I think Houndstooth is HIDEOUS.  It ranks right up there on the ugly scale with Paisley!  Bleh!  I honestly have no idea why this trend is back, but I hope it goes away.  Soon.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian

Celebs seem to LOVE this trend.  I guess money can't buy taste.  I know, I know....I'm being harsh & judgemental.  Hey....I said *I* hate houndstooth, I did NOT say *YOU* had to share my opinion.  ;)  That said.....how DO you feel about it?  Love, hate, don't care either way?

If I had a gun to my head, & HAD to wear the ugly pattern.....I'd totally go for Kourtney's look!  I have to give it to her.....she can make houndstooth {almost} look hot!  Or....I'd go for a simple accessory, such as a houndstooth clutch, or shoes.

Outfit:  Earrings/Necklace/Bag, Send the Trend. Shirt (only $13!)/Jeans, H&M.  Shoes, Reflection.

Shoe of the Day #6

So, have you heard that song, "Dangerous" by Kardinall Offishall f/Akon?  If so, I'm sure you know the line "mad heels like Jessica P".  Who is Jessica P?  She is a celeb stylist (having worked with Cate BlanchettUma ThurmanMariah CareyEmily BluntRachel Weisz, and Kate Beckinsale)!!  She has been working with JustFab for awhile now, and has recently launched the Jessica Paster Winter Collection for JustFab!  I decided to use one of the shoes from that collection for today's Shoe of the Day!  Meet Ambrielle!

Ambrielle also comes in Black/Gold, but I love how the red really stands out!  You could wear Ambrielle w/a cute gold dress, or go "dress casual" like the outfit below (which is what I'd do).

Outfit:  Tops/Jeans, Polyvore.  Shoes/Handbag, JustFab.  Earrings/Bracelet, Send the Trend.

Shoe of the Day # 4

Today's Shoe of the Day is "Bella", from ShoePrivee.  I was hesitant to choose a shoe from ShoePrivee, as I had 2 bad experiences with the company in the past, both due to billing issues.  However, I got an email recently, stating that they have done away with their Monthly Fee.  Since this was the issue with both my problems (one month I "skipped" the month, as you're supposed to and was billed anyways, the other issue was that I ordered a pair of shoes and was billed for them AND a monthly fee), I have decided to give them one more shot....you know...."3 strikes, you're out" type thing, because quite honestly, they do have some really cute shoes, and the brand "Pierre Dumas" (which is one of the brands ShoePrivee carries), in my experience has always been good quality and very comfortable (I have 3 pairs of PD shoes).

What do you think?  I LOVE Bella.  I think she'd be super hot at a Christmas Party (or, "Holiday Party" to be  Politically Correct)!!  Plus, Bella is on sale right now for 20% off, bringing the price down to only $31.96 (shipping is free)!

Idea for styling Bella
Total cost of outfit shown:  $136.85!  Shoes:  ShoePrivee, $31.96  Earrings/Bracelets: ShoeDazzle, $39.95  Clutch:  ShoeDazzle, $39.95  Dress: AXPARISUSA.COM, $24.99!  (It would cost less for me, as I never carry a purse/clutch....I always lose them, so I never bring them out)

Shoe of the Day #3

Today's shoe.....well, just kills me to say, I HATE it.  Anyone who has been reading this blog for awhile, knows I LOOOOOOVE Louboutin.  LOVE.  That said, I do not know what on Earth he was thinking when he designed this shoe.
Alex Lion Paw Pumps, $4,995!!

The "Alex Lion Paw Pumps" are not only UGLY, they also come with the ridiculous price tag of $4,995!  I'm sorry, but I wouldn't wear them if he paid me $4,995!  Ok, well, I probably would, but still.  They're ugly.  I don't care how "fashion forward" he is trying to be.  These shoes look ridiculous, even on "Fashionistas" such as Blake Lively, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

SJP with her "Paws"
That is really all I can say on today's shoe.  Ugly and overpriced.  Sorry, Loub, you missed the mark on this one.  :(  This however, is MY opinion.  What is yours?  I'd love to hear thoughts on this shoe!

Shoe of the Day #2

Today's shoe, is, well....a boot.  I'm sure everyone has heard of them, and a lot HAVE them (or a "fake" version of them).

UGG boots.  These are the shoe of the day, as I just spent $200 on a pair (see pic below).  You may be thinking "WHAT??", however, they were NOT for me.  They are a Christmas gift for one of the kids.  I think they are "UGGLY" and would NEVER spend that much on a pair, if it wasn't as a gift.  I also signed up for Ebates really quick before ordering the UGGs, as you get 5% cash back from Nordstrom, if you order through Ebates.  So, that kicks a bit off of the total (like a rebate).
UGG "Bailey Button Triplet" in Sand color
I hate to admit it, but YES, I have a couple FAKE pairs, that I think are just as ugly, however, I paid $20 for them.  Not $200.  I only started wearing them because I needed a pair of winter boots a couple years ago, so my daughter let me use hers (which were fake black UGGs).  They're ugly, but COMFY.  Just spray them with waterproofing spray & you're good to go!  I'd like to say, if I were rich I'd happily pay $200 for them, but no, I wouldn't.  Not even for the sparkly ones (see below).

What do you think?  Are you for UGGs or not?

A new direction!

Hello!!! *Waving hands like crazy*

So, as I have mentioned in my last few posts, I have been feeling VERY uninspired lately.  The posts that I HAVE managed to get done, is solely out of guilt, as I have had comments asking when I'm going to post or how people miss reading the blog.  I'm SORRY!!!  This blog has been EXTREMELY fun for me, for the most part!  I love finding shoes (or other fashion deals) and sharing them with all of my readers (some of who have become friends)!  However, lack of "awe-inspiring" shoes lately, combined with the fact that as much as I try to be "fashion forward"......I can't change the fact that I live in NH (well, I can, but my kids are here, & I can't COMFORTABLY afford to move....yet) and NH is most definitely not a State known for fashion.

As much as I looooove my shoes, its hard buying them & having to go into my closet to admire them.  I go out typically once a week....I STILL have shoes I have not worn, and I haven't bought new ones in months.  I have tried "dressing up" (aka: nice jeans, nice shirt, & heels) to run errands, and get crazy looks for it.  I know, I know...I shouldn't care what other people think.  However, I don't think heels for the grocery store, or laundry is needed, and as much as I'd like to wear heels for these things, its much more practical to throw on my sneakers/(fake) UGGs.

This brings me to my "new direction" for the blog!

I am giving fair warning.....the blog will still focus on shoes/fashion/deals/etc, HOWEVER, I may also blog about books, DIY hair/makeup tips for cheap, and any misc random "daily life" things that I feel like discussing.  If you are not interested in these new things, THANK YOU so much for being a reader of this blog.  I will be sad to not have you as a reader anymore, however, I do understand!  :)

One thing I WILL try to do, is a "Shoe of the Day" post.  It could be a ridiculously expensive pair of shoes that we can all admire from afar (well, maybe some of you lucky ladies can afford, but not me), it may be an UGLY pair that I just have to share, it may be a very cute, affordable pair.  Whatever catches my eye on any particular day!

Anyways!  Just wanted to get this out there!  I'll do my 1st Shoe of the Day post either later today (I MUST do laundry today....lots of laundry), or tomorrow!  Hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving!!!!
